BUBBLE BOY
This is a boy named David Vetter, who suffers from severe combined immune deficiency (SCID) due to the variation of chromosome 19 in his cell. The plastic bubble has become the only shelter for his fragile life. The exposure to any viruses and bacteria, whether it's in the way of touching others or of normally breathing air, is fatal to him. Therefore, since he was born, he has been imprisoned in a small sterile non-toxic plastic bubble room and spent his short 12 years. His case reflected a major breakthrough for scientific research at that time. His inability to feel the warmth and touch shocked me, so I want to express this life isolated in "bubble" and the feeling of suffocation through my design, in an effort to make the public understand and pay attention to such a special group.
